The PathWest laboratories use a Laboratory Information System (LIS) to register, process, store, track and manage every specimen that is received. It is a crucial system that holds patient test results that doctors rely on to aid in medical diagnosis. In some cases, cause of death information is captured within the LIS and used by the State Coroner to inform cause of death decisions.
The LIS is an essential tool for streamlining laboratory operations, managing data and enhancing efficiency. It promotes a seamless connection of pathology data and sensitive medical information, and facilitates secure and efficient communication between laboratories, hospitals, specialists and general practitioners. The LIS interacts with over 300 clinical instruments to aid in medical diagnosis and receives and sends information across more than 15 other applications.
PathWest is in the preliminary stages of considering future directions with respect to future LIS requirements. As part of this planning process, PathWest is undertaking market research to identify and understand what contemporary approaches and LIS solutions available in the market.
The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to identify and better understand the market capability to deliver an LIS, to inform the planning process.
It is important that any Market Participant who elects to provide information through this RFI process does so on the understanding that no Contract or other form of engagement will result from this RFI process.
