Open Tenders
Department for Infrastructure and Transport - Building Projects Prequalification
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (the Department) utilises a Prequalification system to ensure that only appropriately skilled and experienced companies are permitted to submit tenders to the Department in certain categories of contract associated with the delivery of Social Infrastructure by the Building Projects Directorate. Companies wishing to respond to Building Project listed tenders must first be prequalified with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport.
A limited number of appropriately prequalified companies will be invited to participate in procurements for projects valued at under $50 million. A Selection Committee is responsible for selecting tender fields for Professional Services Contractors (PSC's) and General Building Contractors (GBC's) appropriate to the value and complexity of the project. The tender fields will typically consist of 3-5 tenderers.
Expressions of Interest may be called for services required to deliver projects valued at over $50 million and only submissions from appropriately prequalified companies will be considered.
Where a category does not exist, the department may use other methods to ensure that tenderers are appropriately qualified to perform the services required.
A company may apply for prequalification in any category at any time. Prequalification is available at various levels that reflect the complexity and value of contracts that a company will be permitted to tender for. When a tender is advertised, the Request for Tender will specify the level of prequalification required.

KEY PREQUALIFICATION INFORMATION
Prequalification is for a notional 3 year period. However, if a company, in the view of the Department, is considered to have performed below industry standard, undergoes a restructure or its competency is materially reduced, DIT may request a new application. At any time, DIT may seek confirmation that the information submitted with an application remains relevant or request an update of the information.
DIT will monitor and assess the ongoing performance of each prequalified company. A company’s ongoing prequalification is subject to it maintaining a satisfactory level of performance in its delivery of contracts. A failure to comply with the requirements for maintenance of prequalification may result in the prequalification being withdrawn or the level downgraded in accordance with the DIT Building Conditions of Prequalification.
