Digital Mobile Radio Replacement

Gippsland Water (GW) owns and operates a Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) system that supports our operational remote sites and mobile vehicle voice and emergency communications. It is used to reduce Gippsland Water’s risk associated with staff working remotely or in isolation, including during incidents and emergencies. The current system’s GPS tracking technology is used to ensure that office staff can locate site staff in the event of an emergency. As the core base station equipment is aging, and four base stations are no longer supported by the manufacturer, we are seeking a suitable replacement solution. The handheld and portable radios are reasonably current, and it is envisaged that they be utilised as part of the replacement solution.As the Victorian State election will be held on Saturday 28 November 2026, the Victorian Government will assume a caretaker role from 6:00 pm on Tuesday 3 November 2026 until such time that either it becomes clear that the incumbent government will be returned, or when a new government is commissioned. In line with the caretaker conventions, the incoming government will determine whether to proceed with this tender process and enter into the contract award after the caretaker period.
