Aboriginal Community Connectors Program

The Department of Communities (Communities) is undertaking a Registration of Interest (ROI) process in specific Western Australian locations to identify potential Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) to deliver the Aboriginal Community Connectors Program (ACCP). An ROI enables Communities to gauge the level of interest within the ACCO community services sector with the capacity and capability to provide a service that will contribute to a safe, healthy, equipped and connected community. These community outcomes are detailed below in section 2.1.

In line with the Delivering Community Services in Partnership (DCSP) Policy (2023) Communities will prioritise the procurement of services from ACCOs to deliver the ACCP. As such, this ROI is restricted to ACCOs.

The ACCP aims to reduce the number of Aboriginal people who come into contact with the justice system, prevent crime and victimisation in Aboriginal communities, and ensure coordination with other community support and law enforcement services.

It is a place-based, non-coercive, community intervention and support initiative focused on improving personal and community safety. People accessing the services are often vulnerable, at-risk adults and youth, experiencing challenges in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), violence, and mental or physical health issues.

This ROI seeks responses for the following locations: Kununurra, Wyndham, Broome, Derby, Hedland, Roebourne, Carnarvon and Kalgoorlie.
