2024 Strategic purchase of water to bridge the gap – Basin Plan

An invitation to Tenderers who hold eligible surface water rights in the Queensland (Qld) Condamine Balonne or New South Wales (NSW) Border Rivers catchments to submit a tender, for the sale of water rights (either whole or in part), to the Australian Government. 
The Australian Government (represented by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water) is seeking to purchase an estimated 13.57 GL long-term diversion limit equivalence (LTDLE)) of surface water comprising: 
• 8.48 GL from the Qld Condamine Balonne 
• 5.09 GL from the NSW Border Rivers. 
Water that is purchased will help to meet the Sustainable Diversion Limits in the northern Murray-Darling Basin as part of the Basin Plan.
